Saving Their Battles Until After November?

The Houston Chronicle reports that Governor Perry wants the Lege to cut school property taxes in a special session later this spring, but not to take action on any other education reforms.

Why am I not surprised?

I see this latest development one of two ways:

ONE: Somehow, probably due to large quantities of cash stuffed into the campaign funds of Republican legislators by voucher advocates, or because GOP legislators are scared to death with the possibility of being opposed in primaries like the Hochberg 14, the Republicans have enough votes to pass vouchers, but they’re too afraid to do it until after the election for fear of the backlash it will rightfully cause.

TWO: The Republicans know many of the candidates being opposed with Leininger money will still win in March and November. As such, they may “see the light,” and vote with the party next spring, but not before a November general.

In short, I see this delay as a  delay only proffered so that vouchers will be able to be on the table at a somewhat less-acrimonious time.

Please.
