Perry: Taking Jabs At Fellow Republicans In DC
Vince Leibowitz | Feb 11, 2006 | Comments 0
While speaking to the Conservative Action Political Conference in DC this weekend, Rick Perry said Republicans are acting like Democrats and need to control their urges to spend (AAS):
U.S. Republicans need to scale back earmarks, Gov. Rick Perry said Friday. They’re acting like Democrats, he asserted.
“The public expects Democrats to spend because that’s what they do,” Perry said. “On the other hand, they elect Republicans to stop that from happening, and if Republicans keep spending like Democrats, the public will elect the real thing.”
The governor made the comments in a speech to the Conservative Action Political Conference. The group billed the conference as the largest gathering of conservatives.
Perry, who is seeking re-election and has minor opposition in the March 7 primary, counted himself as a Republican who has stayed true to conservative principles of less government and limited spending.
If staying true to conservative principals means kicking 150,000 kids off their healthcare programs, screwing the elderly and handicapped, and generally running amock through the Texas Capitol, then Perry has stayed true to his conservative principals.
And what was up with this: “The public expects Democrats to spend because that’s what they do.”
Excuse me, Mr. Governor, but remember: A Democrat balanced the federal budget and actually had us a surplus until Bush spent it. Saying “The public expects Democrats to spend because that’s what they do,” is like saying the public expects all dogs to shit on your favorite chair because, well, dogs are supposed to do that.
Yes, you can bet your bottom dollar this dumbass is looking for a veep nod in ‘08.
