A Little Late In Coming

I think this was perhaps a little late in coming on the part of Dick Cheney:

Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday accepted full responsibility for shooting a fellow hunter, speaking publicly for the first time since the accident Saturday.

“I’m the guy who pulled the trigger that fired the round that hit Harry,” Cheney told Fox News Channel in an interview.

Not only that, but, if you put it to the tune of Night That The Lights Went Out In Georgia, it’d make a pretty good country song. To wit:

That’s the night the lights went out in georgia
That’s the night that they hung an innocent man
Don’t trust your soul to no back woods southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town’s got bloodstains on his hand

…with Cheney revisions (you’ve got to sing that first line fast, though):

I’m the guy that pulled the trigger that shot the round that hit Harry!
That’s the day Katharine Armstrong covered up for me.
Don’t trust your soul to press secretary Scott McClellan—
Especially when you’ve got bloodstains on your hands…

Hey…PinkDome has their purdy pictures. I can have my corny remade lyrics.
