Some New Blogs To Watch
By Vince Leibowitz on Feb 20, 2006 in From The Blogs
Checking your referrers is a great way to discover new blogs. And, in my referring website stats tonight, I discovered a new blog which led me to some others I wasn’t familar with which deserve a mention (and which I’ll be watching). Most of these blogs are Valley/South Texas blogs. Many of you will remember a couple of years ago, most bloggers were Dallas/Houston/Austin writers. However, the Rio Grande Valley seems to be the new blogging hotspot in Texas.
RGV Politics (not to be confused with Rio Grande Valley Politics)Â is the brainchild of Hector Gomez. At present, he’s got an interesting post up about political ads in Hidalgo County. Judging by comments, Hector’s blog seems to have a pretty good following.
Hector’s links led me to Republic of the Rio Grande, a blog that has been around a while but isn’t updated daily. But, when it is, the posts are interesting and informative. One to watch.
RGV Politics also led to Edinburg Politics, which covers Edinburg and Hidalgo County. It’s written by 25-year political activist David Daiz. RGV also led to Green Junkbox, a Valley blog written from McAllen. Another new blog discovered was RVG Life, which appears to be an audioblog of RGV life and politics. Another new one to me is Valley in Exile, where a former RGV resident looks at Valley Politics from his home in San Antonio.

Mr. Leibowitz,
thanks for the vote of confidence.
I found out about your web site through Aaron Pena’s “A Capitol Blog”,
and since then have enjoyed it very much. Keep up the great and important
work on your web site. It sets a higher standard for newcomers like me.
Thanks again,
Hector Gomez
