Democratic Governor’s Association

The Democratic Governor’s Association just sent me an email that I thought was worth sharing via The Annex. It’s beneath the jump.
Dear Friend,
America wants change.
Poll after poll shows that Republican leadership is failing our country. In fact, a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found that 62 percent of Americans think our country is headed down the wrong track. While many people are already looking forward to the 2008 presidential election to make a change, this year’s 36 governors races give voters an opportunity to put America back on the right track. I am not waiting for ‘08 and neither should you.

The Democratic Governors Association is committed to making 2006 a year of change. There are 36 elections for governor across the country this year, and with 22 Democratic governors already in office, Democrats aren’t far from holding the majority of governorships. Even better, momentum is on our side.
That’s where the Democratic Governors Association comes in: our mission is to elect Democratic governors. Thank you for joining the DGA, and helping to put Democratic governors in office in as many places as possible.
Take the pledge, and tell your friends why we won’t wait for ‘08:

What can putting Democrats into state houses this year mean? More than politics … it can mean changing lives for the better.
- In Illinois, Governor Rod Blagojevich created the All Kids program — the first in the nation that ensures every child in his state has health care coverage.
- Governors Brian Schweitzer of Montana, Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia took the lead in reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil by working with leaders in the energy industry to develop liquid fuel from coal to make our country energy independent.
- Governor Bill Richardson made New Mexico the first state to guarantee life insurance for members of the New Mexico National Guard.
Every day, Democratic governors are working to make a real difference in the lives of Americans. That’s why this year’s election matters, and why we need to do everything we can to win. Give your friends that message now:

The DGA is the force working behind the scenes for Democratic governors and candidates, providing them with resources and muscle they need to build winning campaigns. We give Democrats the on-the-ground support and organizational backup that can make the difference in a close election.
With 36 races for governor this year in every part of the country we have an enormous challenge in front of us. But we also have a huge opportunity — to change lives, and to change this country for the better. And we don’t have to wait for ‘08 to make it happen.
Let’s seize that opportunity — together.
Thank you,
Penny Lee
