BARRIENTOS ENDORSES RICHIE FOR STATE DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIR

State Senator Gonzalo Barrientos (D-Austin) today endorsed Boyd Richie for chair of the Texas Democratic Party.

“Boyd believes in the Democratic Party’s core values,” said Barrientos.  He understands that our mission as Democrats is to ensure that the promise of America, a fair chance to study hard, work hard, and provide a world of limitless possibilities to our children, is available to all Texans.

“Boyd also knows how to win elections, and he understands that his first priority must be building a team whose members realize that winning elections is a task bigger than any one person. As chairman, Boyd Richie will work with proven leaders as well as untapped, energetic young organizers from all over the state to win elections at every level of government.

“We need to use our advantage of diversity to communicate our Democratic message in every Texas community.  I am encouraged by Boyd’s commitment to directly involve Hispanic and African-American community
leaders by making use of their skills and speaking directly to the concerns of our party’s most loyal voters.

“For the foregoing reasons, I am proud to endorse Boyd Richie for chair,” Barrientos concluded.  He knows that Democrats will win by working every day to earn the trust of all Texans as they seek an opportunity to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
