Patrick Rose’s Vote

As noted in a previous post, Rep. Patrick Rose (D-Dripping Springs) was the only Democrat in the Texas House to vote against the party on all three rule changes. Here’s why he says he did so:
The House took three votes on the rules for Monday’s debate, and Rep. Patrick Rose of Dripping Springs was the only Democrat to vote with Republicans each time. Rose said passing the tax bills quickly will allow the Legislature to turn to pay raises and insurance stipends for teachers, among other measures.
“We’re here to lower property taxes,” Rose said. “The quicker we do that, the sooner we can work on education reforms.”
It’s admirable that Patrick Rose has faith that Perry will actually add this to the call, but it isn’t going to happen. He should have saved his vote.
