RLC Latest GOP Group To Gripe About Perry Tax Plan

The Republican Liberty Caucus (aka the Ron Paul Republicans) has become the latest Conservative/Republican group in Texas to express its ire with the TTRC/Perry/Sharp tax plan:
The executive committee of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas has joined a dozen other organizations opposing the creation of new taxes and demanding tax rebates of the budget surplus being debated in the special session.
Don Zimmerman, Executive Director of the RLC-TX said, “We join all hose taxpayer-friendly independent groups like Americans for Prosperity and Young Conservatives of Texas who oppose creation of new taxes. The Republican Party
platform calls for diminishing the cost and power of government, but some Republicans seem determined to defy those platform demands. We urge Republican leaders to regroup behind Republican platform principles in time for the November elections, and that means doing the right thing in the special session”.
Though the RLC isn’t in the majority within the Texas GOP, they do seem to be expressing thoughts that other groups—many of which, like the YCT, do have greater and more-often-heard voices—seem to agree with.
It will be hard for any backlash from within the GOP to hurt their candidates this fall. Though a few might stay away from the polls or not vote for down-ballot Lege candidates because they are unhappy with particular legislators’ votes, I don’t see many mass defections to the D’s side as a result of the discontent within GOP circles over the tax plan.

If Governor Perry signs this plan with “joy and passion” then not only will I not vote for him, I will actively work against him. He is a RINO. Unless I miss my guess, I’d say signing the “Perry Sharp Tax Plan” will be political suicide.
