Several Texans Write To Bush Urging “Emergency High-Level” Meeting Between Administration Officials And Oil Execs.

Again, another interesting piece from The Hill today concerning members of the Texas Congressional Delegation.
It turns out several Texans were among 13 House Republicans who:
…sent a letter to President Bush yesterday urging him to hold an “emergency high-level†meeting between administration officials and oil executives to determine ways to reduce gasoline prices.
Texans signing include Kay Granger (R-Ft. Worth), Michael McCaul (R-Austin) and Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio).
For the former Fort Worth Mayor, that’s a bit hypocritical. She ranks 11th among members of the U.S. House in the amount of oil money received during this election cycle.

This is the line I like, “building new and expanded pipelines and refining capacity…”
So they want to solve our oil crunch by making us MORE dependent on oil?
At 3 bucks a gallon and rising, I think it is time for us to start thinking about alternative fuel sources and increasing the CAFE standards.
The US produces 3% of the worlds oil and we use 25%. With China expanding at a rapid pace, two countries could literally begin fighting over more than 50% of the worlds oil!
Even though they still aren’t offering solutions, it is good they realize a $100 bribe isn’t going to help most American families.
