Dirk For Senate?

I don’t think Jim was intending to start a huge comment thread of speculation over at Burnt Orange Report when he posted on John Cornyn’s terrible popularity numbers and casually (and humerously, I’m sure) mentioned Dallas Mavericks star player Dirk Nowitzki, as someone who hadn’t “flinched in the face of adversity” and might, as a result, have what it takes to do the job of taking on Cornyn.
The fact that Nowitzki isn’t a citizen didn’t stop people from speculating about him and a host of other people who might take on Cornyn next time around: Richard Morrison, Lance Armstrong (a Republican, as far as I know), Nolan Ryan (a Republican), Mark Strama, Rick Noriega and…well, lots of others.
For a little Friday fun (and in support of the Mavs), I decided to see what a “Dirk ‘08″ sign might look like (if I was designing one). The result is at the top of this post. Click on it for a larger image. And yes, (with appologies to Mark Cuban), it did take a long time to make that old transitional Mavs “M” logo and turnit into an “N.”
