TRO Still In Place; Hearing June 26 on Replacing DeLay
Vince Leibowitz | Jun 19, 2006 | Comments 0
Federal District Judge Sam Sparks left intact a state district court’s temporary restraining order preventing Republicans from replacing Tom DeLay on the November ballot during court proceedings today.
Sparks got the case after Republicans petitioned to have it moved out of state courts in Tavis County, which Texas GOP Chairwoman Tina “God is the Chairman of my Party” Benkiser claimed were too liberal.
Now, a hearing will be held on June 26 to determine of the temporary order should become a permanent injunction.
Of course, you can bet either losing side will appeal and that this case will go on until very close to election day itself.
