More Good News For State House Races: Felthauser Stacking Up Major Endorsements

In addition to the promise show by the campaigns of Juan Garcia in HD 32, Joe Farias in HD 118, Paula Hightower Pierson in HD 93, Ellen Cohen in HD 134, Valinda Bolton in HD 47, and some others Karen Felthauser’s campaign in HD-52 is becoming one many Democrats are begining to seriously take notice of.

Though Felthauser is runing in a “red” district, momentum for her campaign has been continually building and she has proven she will be a serious contender against State Rep. Mike Krussein November.

Further bolstering her better-than-average chances this fall are a number of endorsements she has stacked up lately:

Texas State Teachers Association
Texas Federation of Teachers
Education Round Rock
Central Labor Council of the Austin AFL-CIO

From Felthauser’s campaign:

In the TSTA endorsement letter, Richard Kouri, Director of Public Affairs, states “TSTA is committed to excellence in our public schools.”  Karen, too, is committed to excellent public schools and she is confident that the support of TSTA and TFT can be a determining factor in her race to unseat her opponent. The support of these two organizations has been a key factor in the recent victories of many pro-education candidates.
Judith Miller, Secretary of Education Round Rock,   praised her colleague, “Karen is conversant in educational issues and, as a Board, we are convinced that her rational objectivity would be a welcome addition to the Texas Legislature.”

and, check this out:

In addition to the organizational endorsements, numerous Williamson County teachers, administration and support staff, parents and board members, past and present, have thrown their support behind Felthauser’s candidacy.  These endorsers include Round Rock ISD School Board Members Raymond Hartfield and Diane Cox and past Round Rock ISD School Board members Jackie Burkey and Brig Mireles.
Upon his endorsement of Karen, Raymond Hartfield, then president of the Round Rock ISD School Board said, “In this day and time when it seems we struggle to provide adequate resources to maintain a positive learning environment in our schools, Karen will make a significant difference!”

Keep in mind that, in a school district as large as Round Rock, the endorsements of these current and former board members represent sizeable constituancies. Obviously, endorsements like this are real plums for candidates like Felthauser—especially in a day and time when most incumbent officeholders subscribe to theories of “incumbent protection” and either endorse the incumbent or no one at all no matter how poor of a job the incumbent may be doing.
