DeLay May Make Real Race For Seat, Then Resign
By Vince Leibowitz on Jul 7, 2006 in Replacing DeLay
Tom DeLay told a crowd of supporters on hand to honor him today that he may run for his old seat if Republicans lose their appeal, fueling speculation he may then simply resign after being sworn-in or refuse to take office (if he’s elected), allowing the governor to call a special election.
Via KHOU:
“I am forced to be on the ballot. And the Democrats are just loving it. Well, they may get exactly what they want,†said DeLay.
His supporters roared their approval, but later, their former congressman wasn’t ready to commit. “Well, I didn’t annouce that. We’re going to have to wait and see what the Fifth Circuit Court does with the appeal.â€
Note how carefully DeLay is selecting his words, to wit: “I didn’t announce that.”
DeLay knows making anything that could be construed as a legal announcement of a candidacy at this point would be very, very dangerous.

I can’t get over all those guano-americans clapping for him today. Tom Campbell ran 2nd in the primary with 30%of the vote, but only got one vote in a poll of the Ft. Bend Executive Committee last week. I can’t wait till Lampson gets elected and institutes mandatory abortion, flag burning and Satanist school prayer.
DeLay has already resigned.
And he cannot win in November (which is why he quit in May).
But as for standing again for the seat he just withdrew from:
Run, Tommy. Run.
