Ron Paul & Nasty East Texas Water: Monday Brain Dump
By Vince Leibowitz on Jul 10, 2006 in Texas Politics
Damn, Damn, Damn.
I was aware of both this story and this story yesterday. But, I thought I’d wait until today to write them up because (a) it was the weekend and I was being lazy and (b) I thought it’d be nice to save some good stuff for a usually slow blogging day.
However both Eileen (aka Big Pinkin‘) and Kuff beat me to the punch.
Kuff and Eileen at ITPT both covered the WaPo story about Dr. No (also known as Congressman and failed Libertarian Presidential Candidate) Ron Paul (R-Surfside).
In addition to being shown pouring wine into a plastic cup in a photo in her story (Eileen, I’m shocked: that’s such a social faux pax! Wine in a plastic glass! Really! And we all had such high hopes for you taking on Paul Burka!), the Pink Lady wrote a much better story than the one I had planned, so I’ll just direct you to her coverage, and Kuff’s.
But, since I was going to take a more serious approach (read: less funny, more dry, less likely to be read) to the NYT story on the lawsuit against the Texas Railroad Commission than ITPT did, I’ll share some of my thoughts on the story.
As far as I recall, the last two candidates for Texas Railroad Commission that the TDP has fielded (Sherry Boyles in 2002 and Bob Scarborough in 2004) mentioned in their campaigns how neglectful the TRRC is in enforcing some of its own regulations.
It should come as no surprise that there are situations like DeBerry out there. Following the publicity this article has generated, I would not be surprised if we don’t hear about several more communities in the same boat over the next few weeks.

Hello, how do I contact the owner of the blog regarding a pending blogad?

Don’t forget who USED to be railroad commissioner once upon a time… Strayhorn herself. It all comes full circle.
