Six Texas Republicans were among 33 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who voted against Reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act Thursday Afternoon. A seventh Congressman, Pete Sessions (R-Dallas), failed to vote at all.

Congressmen Ron Paul (R-Surfside), Mac Tornberry (R-Clarendon), Sam Johnson (R-Plano), Mike Conway (R-Brownwood), Jeb Hensarling (R-Dallas) and Joe Barton (R-Ennis) were the six Texans voting against the legislation which was first passed in 1965 and signed into law by another Texan, President Lyndon B. Johnson.
