Chet Edwards Banks $1.576 Million

It looks like President Bush won’t be getting a Republican Congressman to represent his hometown of Crawford this election cycle.

By all accounts, Chet Edwards is kicking ass and taking names in the fund-raising department with $1.576 million cash on hand compare to his opponent Van Taylor’s paltry $21,150.

Of course, Taylor could write himself a significant check to fund his own campaign (remember, he is ‘Exxon Taylor’). Most interesting, however, is that he hasn’t (except for a major loan in the primary) which may mean he knows he cannot win this race.
In a press release, the Edwards camp called Taylor’s support from the district, “anemic,” and that’s probably a good description.

Consider that Taylor raised only $132,125 this quarter, of which $21,150 came from, within the district. Keep in mind also that this quarter included a visit from Vice President Dick Cheney, aka the Bush administration’s Chief Shooter Of People In The Face.

What is amazing is that Edwards isn’t raising a third of the money Dragon Lady Arlene Wholgemuth raised in the district—and she actually had terrible anti-people record as a state legislator.

Interesting.
