Amicus Brief Of The 68th

By Vince Leibowitz  on Jul 26, 2006 in Replacing DeLay

Just when you thought there were no more briefs to unearth in Texas Democratic Party v. Benkiser, along comes a very, very important amicus brief on behalf of members of the 68th Legislature—the Lege that wrote some of the laws in question.
It is by one of the state’s best election law attorneys, Susan Hays, who formerly served as County Chairman of the Dallas County Democratic Party and should feel very at home in the company of Cris Feldman, who represents the TDP and is also one of the state’s best election law attorneys.
I’ve obtained a copy of the brief. It is here.

Most interesting however, is the appendix to the brief, which will have you policy and legislative history wonks (like me) salivating from page one. Hays’ team even went so far as to have tapes from committee meetings of the 68th transcribed and included in the appendix to the brief. It’s here.

More on this one later, too.
