Giving Grusendorf TEA: Like Giving Matches To An Arsonist
By Vince Leibowitz on Jul 31, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections, Texas Republicans
Rick Perry handing over the reigns of the Texas Education Agency to Rep. Kent Grusendorf (R-Arlington) would be like handing a box of matches to a convicted serial arsonist.
But, the Star-Telegram seems to indicate that’s what ‘reliable sources’ are saying.
My sources—and I’ve contaced several on this—say that’s not going to happen.
As I suspected, the Grusendorf rumor is one of these “deadly trial baloons,” ie, one doomed to sink.
I am told Perry’s staff has allowed the Grusendorf rumor to leak and circulate so that the administration’s ultimate choice to head the TEA (if Perry is re-elected) will be more easily accepted.
That’s right. The real appointee will be someone only slightly less farther to the right than Grusendorf.
If I was Governor of Texas and was going to appoint one lone Republican to a position, I’d appoint Carter Casteel…to head the TEA.
