The Third “George Bush” Texas Must Deal With
By Vince Leibowitz on Aug 11, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections
[This is something that came across my desk earlier this week, but I'm only now getting to it.]
As if George Herbert Walker Bush and George W. Bush weren’t enough, Texas now has another George Bush to deal with in the political arena:
George P. Bush. (Son of Jeb, nephew of W, Grandson of GHWB).
Yes, I said “in the political arena.” He’s going be at a meet-and-greet fund-raiser for the
Meet And Greet With George P. Bush for the Texans For Nelson Balido Campaign (who?) in House District 125.
Yes, that’s right: the GOP is sending in one of its big dogs to try and assist the lackluster campaign of this second time candidate who will likely repeat his loss to Joaquin Castro.
Check out how the South Texas Republicans bill P in a recent e-mail:
This is your chance to meet with one of the most powerful individuals within the Republican Party!
Auk! Please! If power is determined solely by family relationships then Chelsea Clinton is one of the most powerful women in the Democratic Party, right?
I thought not. I rest my case.
Further, if he is so damned powerful, then why is it so cheap to get in:
A minimum donation of $5.00 will be charged at the door. Sponsorships are available at $100 minimum for those individuals/organizations who would like to be placed on the Host Billboard, which will be displayed at the event.
Surely, meeting the nephew of a president is worth at least $7.50. Of course, the amount of the “minimum donation,” could be set that way based on the number of people the campaign actually expects to show up and support Balido (who?).

Hmm, well my 4th cousin Herman Welker was a Republican US Senator in Idaho during the McCarthy era. That must make me like almost as powerful as George P. I think I will only charge 3 fiddy for my meet & greet though.
This makes me think that maybe I should move back to Texas and run for Congress or Lt. Gov. because my name is Rob Bullock and I am sure there are enough uninformed people that would vote for me solely on name recognition that I would have an automatic 30% base.
Have we done something wrong? Are we being punished?
I guess Republicans don’t know they are supposed to be priced out of the market. As for Joaquin winning again, I would not put a dime on that do nothing. He’s been a real disappointment. Talk about furniture. Those Castro boys are small league.
Perhaps if mr. Castro had ANY support we’d be seeing suppor rallies for him too…seems like the “lackluster” campaign isn’t Balido’s…
