Fact Check Chet?

The Van Taylor Campaign (who seems to have a grand total of two signs anywhere on I-35 compared to lots more for Chet Edwards) has launched FactCheckChet.com, a website where they claim to debunk Chet Edwards on the issues.

As I remind voters once again that the real name of the son of the business partner of Tom Craddick who is running is Nicholas Van Campen Taylor and that he’s loaded down with Big Oil Money, let’s take a look at one of the “fact checkings:”

In Texas, Chet Edwards claims to “strongly” oppose partial birth abortion.  In Washington, however, Chet Edwards has voted against banning partial birth abortion in 1997 and 1998, even if the procedure is allowed when the mother’s life is endangered.

Are you as confused as I am? It sounds like a pro-choice staffer might have actually written that and forgot they were supposed to be pretending to be anti-abortion. He voted against banning partial birth abortion even if the procedure is allowed when the mother’s life is endangered? What the hell does that mean?

Maybe they’re trying to say that Edwards voted to allow the procedures only when the mother’s life is endangered. However, whoever wrote it did a poor job and made it sound like Chet Edwards was supposed to vote for banning a procedure that could save someone’s life.

Clearly, it’s just another desparate measure by the Taylor campaign to get some press. While they succeded in doing that (here), it’s not like “Fact Check Chet” has any really stunning or damning revalations.

It’s a pretty poor, very lame attempt to try and gain some traction in a district where the Taylor campaign is having trouble gaining ground.
