In HD 33, It’s Ortiz

By Vince Leibowitz  on Aug 14, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections

Solomon Ortiz, Jr., (son of Solomon Ortiz, Sr., who is in Congress) is the Democratic Party nominee in HD 33 to replace Vilma Luna, who left office to join Hillco Partners and become a lobbyist.

Evidently, I should have been paying closer attention to what ever in the Hell was going on down in Corpus Christi over the last couple of weeks, though, because there is some serious hatin’ going on down there.

Danny Noyola, Sr., who lost a vote of precinct chairs 23-20, seems quite hot and bothered about being accused of hitting someone. I don’t know much about that, but I do know one of his supporters evidently called State Party Chair Boyd Richie a terrorist against democracy, which just makes you go “huh?”

Anyway, here’s what he had to say after today’s vote:

Noyola believes he was the target of a political attack, when he was accused of hitting a man during a live radio interview a few weeks ago.

“Quite honestly they’re the scum of the earth, when they just maliciously, fictitiously, when they just come up with things like that I’m beating up on someone, it’s so sad that those people revert to hate, and they’re all friends of the Solomon camp,” Noyola said.

Maliciously, fictitiously? Sounds like a Broadway musical. Anyway, I’m glad this one’s over so we can get behind the nominee for the fall. The Republicans get to select their nominee Tuesday.
