Carole Keeton Strayhorn Is Not Independent
By Vince Leibowitz on Aug 22, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections
I just came across a comment of Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn’s from the 2000 Texas GOP Convention. If you read it and still think that she’s really a “Texas Independent,” then you should cover your shoes with ketchup and eat them, because you’d believe me if I told you they were filet mignon:
“Things are going great in Texas. Al Gore’s stats are out of whack,” she said. Then she trained her guns on President Clinton, labeling him the “Gary Hart of the Ozarks” - a reference to the former Democratic senator whose dalliances ended his presidential bid.
“We want government that’s free from backrooms, free from special-interest groups and free from Bill and Hillary and Al Gore,” she said. And she offered a fast-paced riff on Mr. Gore that touched on nearly every Republican complaint, from his environmentalism to his fund-raising irregularities.
“The Clinton-loving, car-hating, over-regulating, self-proclaimed Internet-creating, Buddhist temple-visiting, tea-sipping, fund-raising, phone-calling, prevaricating, no-legal-authority-citing, e-mail-losing Al Gore’s time has come and gone!” she said.
Everyone knows that Carole Keeton Strayhorn is a Leininger-loving, private-property-rights-hating, back-handing, lawsuit-happy, fund-raising, state-office-abusing, no-legal-authority-citing, power-hungry, voucher-loving, anti-choice candidate whose time has come and gone, too. It’s time for the Elizabeth Dole of the Pedernales to go home, too.

Your blog is excellent!
For months now, I have been fending off bed-wetting liberals who want to claim Kinky as one of their own.
I would show them that Kinky doesn’t give a rat’s a$$ about political correctness and that Kinky has run for office as a Republican and he’s voted for Bush and he has immigration plans to satisfy the minutemen alongside school prayer plans to satisfy a Baptist minister, but still the liberals would not accept that Kinky is a dyed-in-the-wool conservative.
Even after I showed the liberals where Kinky said that the anti-war, anti-Lieberman wing of the Democratic Party is anti-American, those liberals still held fast to their misbelief that Kinky is a liberal.
Finally, we have an answer from Kinky Friedman himself:
“I’m not a liberal, believe me. I’m a compassionate redneck, far more conservative than I am liberal.”
