South Texas Republicans: No Enthusiasm On Part Of Grassroots In CD 23

According to a commentary in the latest newsletter of the South Texas Republicans, Republicans in the 23rd Congressional District have “absolutely no enthusiasm” for Congressman Henry Bonilla (R-San Antonio) and his campaign and are furthermore suffering from “Bonilla fatigue.”

The South Texas Republicans then offer a prescription to help voters with their Bonilla Fatigue (and it’s not “elect Ciro Rodriguez and call me in the morning):

The Congressman needs to give a speech on why we should send him back to D.C. for 2 more years. He needs to engage his own political base right now. Why? He will lose without us working the district in a very aggressive manner. Endless direct mail will not save the day for Mr. Bonilla and he knows that.

I pray to God the Congressman does not repeat his tired old line, “I’m the only Hispanic Republican in Congress” and “the Democrats want to take me down.” Okay, we’ve heard that over the past 14 years. Give us some solid reasons why the grassroots of the party should block walk for you. Why should we care about re-electing YOU?

Wow. That illustrates quite abit of Bonilla Apathy (sister  disease to Bonilla Fatigue) with a mild case of Bonilla Scorn, and possibly some Bonillanemia.

And, you’ve got to wonder if Bonilla himself is suffering from a wee bit of fatigue himself. Back in ‘93 when he was a freshman, he called Congress“more bureaucratic and convoluted than I ever possibly imagined.”

I wonder how he feels now that he’s become more “bureacuratic and convoluted” than his constituants ever imagined?
