Blunt Smoking: Kevin Brady & The New Majority Leader

Kevin Brady and Roy Blunt were blowing some pretty serious smoke up the rear ends of the folks in Hardin County last week, according to the Hardin County News.
U.S. House Majority Leader Roy “The Smokin’” Blunt was on hand as well—hence the fancy podium with the U.S. Houst of Representatives Logo in the midst of what looks like the meeting room of a very, very western-themed bar and grill. Brady presented him with a cowboy hat.

How cute.

Here’s more:

House Majority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri accompanied Brady to a regional meeting on Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Crazy Horse Saloon in Kountze. Brady thanked him for his efforts in coordinating leadership in the House and getting Texas the block grant, as well as to update him on the recovery process.

Speaking to Blunt, Brady said, “I wanted you to see firsthand the quality of our local leadership and it’s an ongoing thing. You in this room are the cavalry.”

What is it with Republicans and western metaphors?

Then, Blunt actually made an hilarious faux paux and intimated that Brady was a “real leader” and that fellow U.S. Congressman Ted Poe (R-Beaumont) was something less:

“One month you’re helping everyone else to recover and one month later you’re trying to recover, yourself. Kevin Brady and (U.S. Representative) Ted Poe were critical, but Kevin is the real leader. As the deputy whip, he gets things done. He doesn’t wear out and he doesn’t give up.”

Crack that Whip, Rep. Brady!

  1. PDiddie says:

When Brady made an appearance in his district shortly after Rita strick, he did so wearing a flak jacket and ringed by DPS troopers.

Perhaps Blunt was simply there as Brady’s “human shield” this time.

“struck”, of course. (I wish you had a comment preview feature, Vince, as I am prone to typos).
