Politicians Say The Darndest Things

By Vince Leibowitz  on Sep 11, 2006 in Politicians Say...

From now through election day, every time I find something especially stupid, silly, or funny that a Republican candidate has said while on the stump (or in the press), I’m going to blog it. Of course, I won’t blog every stupid thing said by Texas Republicans because it would require more bandwith than used by the entire country of Poland every single day.

Anyway, Carole Keeton Strayhorn gets the first one:

“The governor promised you a $2,000 property tax cut, but on October 1 don’t go running to the mailbox because it won’t be there,” Strayhorn said during a campaign appearance in Austin.

I picked this because it actually gave me a mental image of Strayhorn actually running out to her mailbox in a housecoat and slippers looking for that $2,000 property tax cut with her copy of Better Homes & Gardens.

Didn’t Four Names also promise “Two free years of college” followed by “And I know how to pay for it!”?

And wasnt she the one that said we had a $5B deficit before the election, then change it to $10B AFTER the election?
