Dan Patrick: Planning For 2010

By Vince Leibowitz  on Sep 26, 2006 in 2010 Texas Elections

Evidently, Dan Patrick is of the mindset that conservative, anti-tax Republicans will be defecting from Rick Perry in droves this fall because he’s already planning his 2010 race even though others are speculating about Perry’s third term starting about that time:

Word on the street is that Dan Patrick is doing a statewide mailout in the next week or so either through a) his state senate campaign, or b) one of his surrogates (eg, CLOUT).

Certainly some people are already whispering: what is Dan Patrick running for in 2010?

It’s safe to say Patrick isn’t planning on running for Railroad Commissioner. Comptroller, perhaps. But, more likely, he’s going to try and take his show on the road and run for governor. He’s got the anti-tax wingnuts locked up [aside: don't we wish he'd throw away the key?] and will surely get even more of a following now that he’s going to be on the air in Dallas.
