Kenny Marchant & Ralph Hall: Millions Ahead
By Vince Leibowitz on Sep 26, 2006 in Texas Congressional Delegation
Roll Call (sorry, no link) recently did a bit of digging to determine what House members income exceeded the median household income in their district by more than a million dollars.
We’re *so* proud that Kenny Ewell Marchant made that list:
The other Members who exceeded their constituents’ income by $1 million-plus include Reps. Gary Miller (R-Calif.) and Kenny Marchant (R-Texas), both with gaps of $1.5 million.
And, though we’re quite sure he’s jealous of Marchant being in the lead, Ralph M. Hall (R-Rockwall) made the list, too:
Reps. Tom Petri (R-Wis.), John Linder (R-Ga.), Pete Stark (D-Calif.), Ralph Hall (R-Texas) and Mike Sodrel (R-Ind.), each with gaps greater than $1.2 million;
Interesting, Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Tyler) had to ask for an extension on filing his ethics paperwork, so Roll Call was unable to determine where he fit in the scheme of things.
Isn’t it nice to know, though, just how out of touch some of our Representatives are with the average person? I mean, if you make $1.5 million more than the median family income in a fairly affluant district like Marchant’s, then you probably have no idea how much a gallon of milk or a gallon of gas costs…because your servants are buying all that for you.

Not surprising, really… the Marchants are a North Texas dynasty.
