The DMN’s Transportation Tic-Tac-Toe
By Vince Leibowitz on Sep 26, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections
Instead of just coming out, showing some testicular fortitude, and issuing an endorsement in the governor’s race, the Dallas Morning News is evidently playing some kind of sadistic tic-tac-toe with its endorsements and, instead of just telling people what candidates to vote for, they’re taking an issue and examining the candidate’s positions on those issues.
In a normal world in which the Dallas Morning News wasn’t trying to kiss the ass of an incumbent governor, this would be a good method.
However, it appears as though the DMN picks only issues on which it can put governor Rick Perry on the “right side” of.
Take this weekend’s transportation editorial, for instance.
Now, no candidate ever agrees with one person (or an entire editorial board, for that matter) completely.
However, the DMN has managed to note that Texas Governor Rick Perry agreed with each and every one of its pet issues (except increasing the motor fuels tax). And, that
Did they just take Perry’s platform and say, “ok, here’s what Perry thinks, people, this is our opinion from now on. Make it so in the Sunday Reader section, stat, and do it before everyone gets laid off.”?????
