The Extent Of Todd Staples’ Experience
By Vince Leibowitz on Oct 12, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections
I found it quite interesting that this was the lead of the T:
The seeds of Sen. Todd Staples’ candidacy for Texas agriculture commissioner were planted long ago, he says. The Republican from Palestine grew up on his family’s farm, was active in Future Farmers of America in high school and served as the state vice president of FFA in college.
Uh, can we say, “Hi! I’m Todd Staples. And the extent of my qualifications to be your agriculture commissioner is that I was in FFA in high school and college!”
You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. [me].
Of course, he covers the fact that he’s not exactly what you’d call agri-business literate with great one liners like these:
“There are also new opportunities when looking at renewable energies,” Staples said.
Oh, and here’s a news flash: he wants to rape East Texas of its land and water to serve the Dallas Metroplex:
Water will be an increasingly important issue, he added. Urban areas could look to East Texas for their water needs.

i think you would be a very good candidate for texas comissioner of agriculture
