If you ever spend much time wondering, “Whatever happened to….” various figures in Texas Politics, and if former Secretary of State Elton Bomer was ever on your mind, then wonder no more:
Former Texas Secretary of State and Commissioner of Insurance Elton Bomer has been named president of four insurance companies: American Reserve Life Insurance Co., Liberty Bankers Life Insurance Co., Mid-Continent Preferred Life Insurance Co. and Winnfield Life Insurance Co. The companies are part of the Dallas-based Heritage Guaranty Holdings Group.
AdvertisementBomer will join the companies on Nov. 1, 2006, according to Bradford Phillips, president of Heritage Guaranty. He comes to the companies after spending the last two years as a business and governmental affairs consultant in the Austin office of the Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP law firm.
Well-known in the Texas insurance industry, Bomer was appointed Texas Secretary of State in 1999 by then-Gov. George W. Bush, who had previously appointed Bomer to serve as Texas Commissioner of Insurance in 1995. Additionally, he served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1981-85 and 1991-95.
