‘I Am Not A Carpet Bomber!’

John Culberson, meet Richard Nixon. You two should talk…seriously.
It seems as though John Culberson called for the carpet bombing of major Iraqi metropolitan areas during his meeting with the H-Chron editorial board this month. Evidently, during his spare time in Congress, he’s been studying at the Henry Kissinger School of Diplomacy & World Relations.
That’s funny…if the war is over, do we really need to carpet bomb? Oh, wait! When we said, “mission accomplished,” we really didn’t mean it! This revalation comes from Jim Henley, who is running against Culberson in CD-07:

The candidates for United States Congress in the 7th Congressional District sat side by side and were asked questions on a range of issues.

When asked if he still supported President Bush’s “stay the course” policy on the occupation of Iraq, Culberson noted that he’d been reading Bob Woodward’s book, State of Denial, which had helped him to realize that the situation in Iraq had grown increasingly “grim.” As the members of the editorial board stared in apparent disbelief, he went on to say that the only solution might be to “evacuate the women and children” and “carpet bomb the major cities.”

Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Someone please light a candle for Culberson…I think he’s channeling Richard Nixon or something.
