John Davis Advocates The “Permanent Wall” Keeping Kids From CHIP
By Vince Leibowitz on Oct 30, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections
A couple of days ago, I wrote about the “permanent wall” that is keeping thousands of Texas children from affordable health insurance.
Little did I know, however, that John Davis, the ethically-challenged State Representative in House District 129 would actually be caught on video tape advocating the building blocks that make up the “permanent wall itself.”
Well, that happened, during a recent debate between he and Democrat Sherrie Matula. Here’s a clip:
And, that’s not all. Evidently Rep. Davis also believes that Pasadena has clean air. So much so, in fact, that he doesn’t think Texas needs any additional clean air laws.
He’s fearful that they will “Choke off industry,” and “over, over regulate.” And, those are about the most coherant statements he made in the entire 1:40 clip from the debate. I lost count of how many times he mentioned growing up in Pasadena in the 1960s and 1970s and and the “night and day” difference between the air. Oh, and he’s not for more “over strengent” regulations that “aren’t based on science.” Silly me, I thought determining the parts per-million of carcinogens in the air was scientific.
For your amusement:
There is no question that HD 129 is a red district, but Matula clearly has Davis on the ropes down there. His performance in the two clips shown in this post is very, very poor and he he appears to be on the perpetual defensive.

John Davis is my kind of guy. He stands up for personal accountability by requiring people who receive thousands of dollars in benefits which I pay for to at least verify their need.
