Fifth Court Grants Stay Of Injunction Against AG’s Enforcement

A three-judge panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has granted a request by the Texas Attorney General’s Office for a stay of a federal district court judge’s injunction barring enforcement of statutes that unfairly criminilze assisting voters cast mail-in ballots.

The stay will remain in place until a hearing, a date for which has not been set. The panel cited the weighty nature of constitutional issues at stake in making its decision.
