When The Religious Right E-Mails
By Vince Leibowitz on Nov 3, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections
Here are a few emails from David Barton, the Texas Restoration Project and other similarly right-wing entities and individuals. There is really no commentary needed except to say that David Barton of Wall Builders is supporting Don Willett and they’re all encouraging people to go to the Bush Rally.
And, for your enjoyment, here’s the link to the religious right conference call!
Dear Pastor-
David Barton hosted a conference call on Monday evening along with Pastor Chris Osborne, former President of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, Pastor Vic Schober, North Texas Director of the Assemblies of God and Kelly Shackelford, Liberty Legal Institute.
We discussed how critical that we, as pastor’s, mobilize our congregations as sons and daughters of the Living God to vote our biblical values this election season.
If you were unable to participate we have obtained the recorded call. Please visit: http://www.chrisleonard.com/audio/MT103006.wav to listen to the call.
Brother Chris, Pastor Vic, David Barton and Kelly were extremely effective; it may have been one of the finest conference calls I have been allowed to participate in.
This 20 minute presentation may be shared with your Pastor friends and their congregations.
May God richly bless your effort to restore Texas, and America, to our Judeo Christian heritage.
Sincerely,
Dr. Laurence White

Don Willett
Texas Supreme Court Justice
I urge you to re-elect Justice Don Willett to the Texas Supreme Court. Don has proven himself a champion for the moral values and constitutional beliefs that we as Texans and Americans hold dear.
As a Justice, Don Willett is exactly what the Founding Fathers ordered: a strict-constructionist who understands that the role of the Judiciary is not to be a super-legislature. Judicial activism is repugnant to Don, and he brings unique experience to the Court, for he has previously worked with the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches on both the state and federal levels. In fact, under President Bush, Don helped select and vet the resolute strict-constructionist judges appointed to the courts by the President. He also helped lead legal initiatives to prevent government from purging religion from the public square, and to strengthen our nation’s laws against sexual predators. (There are very few Justices who have experience in all three branches, much less on both the state and federal levels, but history shows that they tend to be some of the best - like Founding Father John Jay, who served in all three branches.) Before Don joined the Texas Supreme Court in 2005, he was chief legal counsel to Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and helped prepare the State’s legal briefs before the United States Supreme Court in both the Ten Commandments case and the Pledge of Allegiance case.
With steadfast conservative Justices like Don Willett on the Texas Supreme Court, Texans need never fear the runaway judiciary so evident in other states - as most recently seen in the same-sex marriage decision from the New Jersey Supreme Court. Justice Willett puts it well: “I know judging. I know policymaking. And I know the difference.” That’s why every judicial poll comparing the November candidates has rated Justice Don Willett the “most qualified” choice.
Keeping good judges on the Court is key to winning the Culture War. I urge you to re-elect Justice Don Willett to the Texas Supreme Court. You can vote for Don the rest of this week in early voting, or on Election Day, next Tuesday, November 7th (when Don and his wife, Tiffany, expect to welcome their second baby, who will be named after Tiffany’s heroic brother, who recently sacrificed his life in Iraq).
Please encourage everyone within your circle of influence to vote for Don Willett.
God bless!
David Barton

An e-mail from the Restoration Project sent out on Nov. 1.
Dear Pastor-
While we are not involved with this event, we have found out information that we thought you might be interested in having. President Bush will be returning to Texas prior to this year’s elections to address his fellow Texans at Reunion Arena on Monday, November 6.
Joining the President, as his special guests, will be the contemporary Christian singing group Casting Crowns. Admission to the event is free, but you must have a ticket to get in. They are expecting the event to fill up quickly, and tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis.
Please see the attached flyer for details. If you are interested in finding out more information for this event, please call: (877) 322-2470.
Have a blessed day!
