Texas Democratic Congressional ‘Leader’ Board

By Vince Leibowitz  on Nov 8, 2006 in 2006 Texas Elections

I thought it would be interesting to rank the Democratic Congressional challengers in this year’s election to see which candidates polled the most votes (in part because it also shows weakness of the incumbents going into 2008 which should be reason enough for better fund-raising in these races). When I did this, however, there were still some precincts being counted. Hence the number in parentisis which is the percentage of precincts reporting when these calculations were made in a particular congressional district.

Anyway, Will Pryor and Ted Ankrum came in at the top of the list behind Nick Lampson (of course):

CD 22: Nick Lampson         50.63  (90.91)
CD 32: Will Pryor               41.27  (100.0)
CD 10: Ted Ankrum           40.44 (97.92)
CD 31: Mary Beth Harrell    39.04 (78.95)
CD 7: Jim Henley               38.44 (98.35)
CD 14: Shane Sklar           38.42 (77.35)
CD 26: Tim Barnwell          38.00 (87.81)
CD 24: Gary Page             37.07 (93.08)
CD 6: David Harris            37.03 (96.14)
CD 5: Charlie Thompson   35.83 (97.43)
CD 3: Dan Dodd               34.91 (100.0)
CD 4: Glen Melancon         32.83 (78.69)
CD 8: James Wright          32.28 (100.0)
CD 2: Gary Binderim         31.70 (95.65)
CD 12: John Morris           31.05 (97.01)
CD 1: Roger Owen            30.14 (89.97)
CD 19: Ricketts                29.59 (99.61)
CD 13: Roger Waun          23.16 (94.52)
I’ll update this list as the final results come in later, as well as offer some analysis on it.

[...] Check out the Texas winners and losers at Off the Kuff; GregsOpinion; Burnt Orange Report (ITPT without make-up and talking points); and Capitol Annex. They were paying close attention while me and the PinkDome folks were drinking and talking smack to anyone who would listen — usually each other. [...]
