As Always, Shelley Sekula-Gibbs Stays ‘On Message’

By Vince Leibowitz  on Nov 9, 2006 in Texas Congressional Delegation

…and that message is, “look at me! look at me!” To wit:

It’s very exciting,” she said Wednesday afternoon. “I will be the first lady doctor in the House of Representatives. That’s a tremendous honor for me. It’s the greatest honor of my life.”

The Houston Chronicle notes that Sekula-Gibbs does hope to make an impact during the 14 days Congress is actually in session:

Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, a lame duck before she even takes office in the U.S. House, headed for Washington on Wednesday, vowing to take a meaningful role in working against higher taxes and for better health care.

She’ll have to move quickly. The House meets for a week between now and Thanksgiving, and for another week or so in December to pass what’s left of the federal budget. It then adjourns until the next session begins on Jan. 20.

Ten bucks says Dr. Shelley introduces five or six bills just so she can claim that she did so in her campaign in 2008. Who knows, perhaps the Republicans in Congress will be so upset with what’s happened to them they’ll even pass one of her bills in the lame duck session.

Yeah, right…

The lady doc seems like she needs a transfusion. She’s so pale in that pink suit she looks more like Drakula-Gibbs than Sekula-Gibbs!
