Chet Edwards: Govern From The Center

Although I believe the Cleburne Times-Review seriously misquoted Chet Edwards (they keep saying he wants to put aside harsh “bipartisanship”, and I think they meant to write “partisanship”), he has some interesting points:
U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Waco, said Wednesday he will encourage colleagues on both sides of the aisle to “put aside the harsh bipartisan edge†that’s troubled American politics over the last several years.
“Now that no one party holds all the aces, there’s reason to, and I hope we will all, work towards getting past bipartisanship,†Edwards said. “One of my top priorities will be to encourage Democrats to reach out to Republicans. I think we have to govern from the center. I don’t think Americans want a far right or a far left agenda.â€
Governing from the center. Although I’d prefer something slightly left of center, I think governing from the center is a good start. After all, we’ve been governing from the far, far, far right of center for the last six years.
