Mass Resignations In Shelley Sekula-Gibbs Office?

By Vince Leibowitz  on Nov 14, 2006 in Replacing DeLay, Texas Congressional Delegation

Rumors have been flying fast and furious that Shelley Sekula-Gibbs (R-Clear Lake) staff walked out on her today.

However, that’s not the whole story. It turns out that the staff of former Rep. Tom DeLay resigned en masse after a series of confrontations with Sekula-Gibbs.
Of course, Sekula-Gibbs staff, such that it is, refused to discuss this with Raw Story, who was also hot on the tail of the story:

“We don’t discuss personnel changes,” said Lisa DiMond, who serves as Sekula-Gibbs’ press secretary, chief of staff, and, until recently, campaign manager. “We had some people here who were transitional,” she said, adding that those staffers once worked under DeLay.

And, there’s nothing like a scorned Congressional staffer, either:

“It started when she got to the office Thursday,” said one source. The staffers, say the source, “came to the realization that this was a boss they did not want to work with.”

“They were not fired,” says another source with knowledge of the incident.

Previously, the staff was still doing constituant services in the five months the office was vacant, and they were under the supervision of the Clerk of the U.S. House. However, when Sekula-Gibbs took office, the staff became her responsibility…er, problem.
