Conservative “Rock Stars” Back Hensarling

By Vince Leibowitz  on Dec 6, 2006 in Texas Congressional Delegation

I believe that “conservative rock star” is in and of itself an oxymoron. But we’ll know soon enough with the Republican Study Club chair election set for today.

Hensarling, who is in a tight race with a Kansas Congressman, has the support of the “conservative Rock Stars” according to The Red State (no, not the Texas one):

Who else is backing Jeb Hensarling? Well, a joint letter has circulated the Halls of Congress. The letter reads in part:

[Jeb] is committed to advancing conservative principles of limited government, traditional family values, a strong national defense, and retaking the majority in 2008. It is vital that we have Jeb on the front lines of that effort.

The letter is signed by Tom Feeney, John Shadegg, Mike Pence, Paul Ryan, Kevin Brady, Jeff Flake, Gresham Barrett, and Marsha Blackburn — a who’s who list of conservative rock stars on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Eric Cantor sent out his own letter writing, in part,

Since being elected to Congress, Jeb has been one of the most dedicated conservative members of the RSC. He has a proven record of leadership on both fiscal and social issues important to America and our party.

Oh, we can’t wait to see how this one turns out.
