State Rep. David Leibowitz (D-San Antonio) has filed the second piece of legislation this session to address the Sporting Goods Tax with his HJR 38.
HJR 38 would create a constitutional amendment that would require the state to appropriate all money from the collection of the Sporting Goods Tax to the Texas Department of Parks & Wildlife for:
(1)Â managing and conserving the natural and cultural resources of this state; and
(2)Â providing hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation opportunities for the people of this state.
The bill would also add some clarification language concerning what is subject to tax by the Sporting Goods Tax.
