McCain Is The New Bush

We here at Capitol Annex can hardly contain our excitement over the fact that another Presidential Primary is in the offing for 2008.

And, of course, given that Texas is the presidential primary equivelant of the three dollar whore merged with a pool of potential cash the size of Lake Michigan, it’s a foregone conclusion that Republicans and Democrats will seek their early supporters (in name, if not cash) from the Lone Star State.

John McCain is a good example.

McCain has attracted former Texas Governor Bill Clements and other high-profile Texas Republicans to head his Texas exploratory committee. McCain is hoping to fare better than former Texas Supreme Court Justice Steve Smith, who lost a recent Republican Primary to a Perry favorite.
Of course, Clements isn’t alone: Robert Mosbacher (Former RNC Chairman) and San Antonio car dealer Red McCombs have also pledged their support to McCain.
The Dallas Morning News notes:

The selections underscore Mr. McCain’s efforts to build alliances with supporters of President Bush in Mr. Bush’s home state and signals that the race for the White House is escalating even though the election is two years away.

This could also make one wonder if McCain, like Bush, will pose as a moderate to win election and then becaome a radical once elected. It makes you think…

In all fairness to our president, Bush isn’t that radical. He, actually, is quite moderate compared to some Republicans. He’s just not smart on some issues…
