CD 23: Republicans Lack Conficence In Bonilla?

This snippit is included in a San Antonio Express-News story on the Bonilla/Rodriguez race:
“Like any special election, especially one which is taking place in the midst of the holiday season, gauging turnout is very tough to do,” said Amy Walter with the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.
Walter said making the contest even tougher to handicap is “the fact that both candidates have turned in lackluster campaign performances in the past and neither party feels particularly confident in its nominee.”
I don’t think that is the case for Democrats, to be quite honest, but I know it is the case for Republicans. You’ll recall earlier this year when we told you about the South Texas Republicans PAC feeling rather lukewarm about Bonilla.
I was unaware, however, that this nonchelance had made its way up the food chain although it stands to reason it would.
Clearly, even among Republicans, someone with Bonilla’s baggage is becoming a liability—far from the star he once was for Republicans as their only Hispanic Congressman.
