A Word On Tuesday’s Coverage, Press Releases, Tips & The Start Of The Session

By Vince Leibowitz  on Jan 9, 2007 in Admin

Today, we will be liveblogging the start of the session. Obviously, we won’t be able to liveblog every single day, but we will be liveblogging the important  stuff as much as possible.

For the session, we’re going to try to allow comments to be open. I believe we have a handle on the spamming now. So, comments are open, but you must register. This is to prevent spamming by spambots. Please read the note in the right hand column about how to register if you don’t want to use your personal email address (though we won’t spam you, I understand that there are some who would rather be anonomous).

Second, I want to remind everyone that Capitol Annex’s Press Room is ready for the session. We started Press Room during the special session last year because we believed the Blogsphere needed a non-partisan repository for press releases of all members of the Legislature and U.S. Congress. At Press Room, you won’t find anything but press releases and source documents—no partisanship. Every day that we receive press releases during the session, we’ll post a digest directing you to what we have at Press Room. Of course, we always find a number of press releases newsworthy and meriting a blog post here at Capitol Annex itself, so don’t think that press releases are being relegated to blog purgatory.

We believe we’ve contacted (via the email addresses we had from last session) staffs in every state representative and state senate and asked that they add Press Room to their media distribution lists (if we weren’t on already). So, if you are reading this from the Capitol and didn’t get such an email, the address to send the releases to is pressroom@capitolannex.com.

Finally, tips: we love your tips and get a lot of them. If you want to tip us off to a particular piece of legislation, interesting debate, or gossip, please email us at tips@capitolannex.com. While we’re liveblogging, you can also reach us via various instant message services as indicated in the sidebar. Please note that all tipsters remain 100 percent anonomous.
