Article III, Section 41 Trumps What King Was Saying

Article III, SEC. 41., Texas Constitution:

In all elections by the Senate and House of Representatives, jointly or separately, the vote shall be given viva voce, except in the election of their officers.

Grab your constitutions, people. The constitution allows secret ballots for election of officers and has since 1876.

That trumps Article III, Sec. 12:

SEC. 12. Each house shall keep a journal of its proceedings, and publish the same; and the yeas and nays of the members of either house on any question shall, at the desire of any three members present, be entered on the journals.
