The Saga Of HR 35…

1:58: It looks like something may happen any minute.
1:59 p.m: Everyone has HR 35 that “has all the agreed language and voting procdures, we’re going to lay it out and then take amendments. If you have an amendment you need to get them drafted.
Clerk reading resolution: IT’s by Hartnett (HR 35, that is). Rules for election.
Chief clerk will prepare paper ballots. One ballot for each member and has to have name and district number and space for signautre. Sgt at arms will distribute these to members. Clerk shall provide voting box and designate voting area. Ballot can be signed at desk or voting area. Members willbe called by district number to vote. Then, they will fold the ballot and deposit it in the voting box.
Chief clerk shall count on floor. SOS and state auditor will observe. If there is a runoff (unlikely), if a majority, they are elected. Majority consists of only ballots with names of a nominee is a vote cast. Two nominees with largest number if runoff will be in runoff which will be conducted in same procedure as original vote.
If tie, additional rounds shall ocurr in same manner as first vote unless someone withdraws until majority of votes cast is received by one nominee.
If in a runoff between two and there is a tie, additional rounds of runoffs shall ocurr….
Oath: after the election, SOS will administer oath. Speaker takes chair immediately.
Chief clerk will retain ballots in secure location.
KEFFER (of Eastland) House has been “invaded by a group of House has-beens” from the senate. Lots of cat calls…what’s this about.
Senate Messages: Sent by Lt. Governor to know that the senate is organized and ready to conduct business. Lots of applause….
