A quick review of the committee appointments suggest that the new Juan Garcia, the new freshman from Corpus, and Tommy Merritt, the Independent Republican, from East Texas got the biggest shafting.... I expected that would happen to Garcia for both beating a Craddick loyalist Gene Seaman and because of all the "puff" he got from the media including Burka crowning him as being the "future of the Texas Democratic Party"...The GOP was sure to do all they can to kill that possibility.

P.S. Take a look at the Defense Affairs Committee.... 5 of the 9 members were members of the "Immortal 27" who voted against Craddick.
