80th Legislature: Names Of The 34 Who Voted Against HR 4
By Vince Leibowitz on Jan 30, 2007 in 80th Legislature
A list of the 34 who voted against HR 4 follows. Note a Republican (Robert Talton, of all people) is on this list.
HR 4 would have suspended the constitutional provision concerning what kind of legislation can be considered in the first 30 and 60 days of the session and given the Speaker a blank check, essentially, to set the agenda without regard to the issues of the minority party. It required a 4/5ths majority vote to pass the house, and failed as it needed only 30 votes to kill it.
