Legislation Already Filed Against HPV Vaccine

We knew this was coming. Two legislators have already filed legislation against Governor Perry’s Executive Order mandating the HPV vaccine.

Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) has filed HB 1098 which would take a lot of the teeth out of Perry’s order by exempting the vaccine from being required for school enrollment:

Immunization against the human papilloma virus may not be required for a person’s admission to any elementary or secondary school. This subsection preempts all contrary executive orders of the governor.

Sen. Glen Hegar (R-Katy) has filed a companion bill in the senate with the same language. It is SB 438.
