Lamar Smith Wants To Monitor Your Email

Texas Congressman Lamar Smith (R-San Antonio) wants to monitor your emails, instant messages, and website visits.
Why? It’s part of his reincarnation of the SAFETY Act, HR 837. It is designed to help stop child pornography, but in reality, it is a major invasion of an individual’s privacy on the Internet:
A bill introduced to the US House of Representatives would require ISPs to record all users’ surfing activity, IM conversations and email traffic indefinitely.
Again, we have before us legislation with good intentions but bad execution.
