Senate Busts Spending Cap Without Senior Property Tax Relief Attached.

Today, the Texas Senate voted 17-12 to pass SCR 20, the resolution that will allow the legislature to bust the spending cap. It did so without tying the measure to property tax relief for senior citizens.
The vote went down like this:

Yeas: Averitt, Brimer, Carona, Deuell, Duncan, Eltife, Estes, Fraser, Harris, Hegar, Jackson, Janek, Lucio, Ogden, Seliger, Wentworth, Williams.
Nays: Ellis, Hinojosa, Nelson, Nichols, Patrick, Shapleigh, Uresti, Van de Putte, Watson, West, Whitmire, Zaffirini.
Absent-excused:Gallegos, Shapiro.

The resolution now moves on to the House.

Also, the senate approved CSSJR 13 without dissent.
